The sustainability strategy at toom is organized along the following four sustainability pillars: Green Products; Energy, Climate and Environment; Employees; Social Commitment. In combination, these pillars form a sustainability offensive worthy of distinction. toom understands green products to be genuinely sustainable products. Greenwashing is counteracted through intensive verification and credibility is increased as a decisive basis for communication. In addition, private label products are verified by an external advisory board and are intended to offer added sustainability value to the challenges of the product group.
In the form of resource-conserving and climate-friendly operation of the stores, toom is also living up to the second sustainability pillar and is reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 in order to become climate-neutral by 2040. However, supporting employees and social commitment, for example in the form of support for homeless people or the inclusion of people with disabilities, are also part of a sustainable corporate policy for toom.
